Rental Requirements and General Qualifications

After collecting your luggage and entering the arrivals hall you will be greeted by a uniformed NextCar/Guatemaya Renta Autos representative holding a hand-held sign. Additional drivers must meet the same qualifications as the primary driver. This includes age, passport and license requirements, among others. The additional driver fee is USD 4.00 /per day.

Guatemalan law requires that all vehicles have adequate liability insurance. The purchase of Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) is optional as long as written proof of Guatemalan coverage is presented at the time of rental. Foreign auto insurance or credit card coverage is not proof of Guatemalan coverage. Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) protects against claims for injury or damage you cause to third parties or their property.

A deposit of $650.06 for Mini class vehicles, $1300.11 for SUV and Van class vehicles will be required at the time of rental at the Guatemala branch.

It does not cover injuries to you or damage to the rental vehicle. Property damage or liability covers up to USD $35,000.00. For Minis, standard size sedans are USD $18.00/per day. Full-size sedans, SUVs, trucks and vans are USD $25.00/day.

Collision Damage Waiver is not optional. If you have purchased or rely on third-party Collision Damage Waiver, any damage to the vehicle will be charged to your credit card and the renter will be required to seek reimbursement from the third-party policy. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces your financial liability for damage to the vehicle, its parts and accessories, except in the event of theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. CDW coverage for Mini class vehicles through Compact sedans is USD $18.00 per day, with a USD $1,200-3,000 deductible. CDW coverage for SUV and Van class vehicles is USD $21.00 per day, with a USD $3,000 deductible. Additionally, Personal Accident Coverage/Personal Accident Insurance (PAC/PAI) is available for a fee of $7.00/per day. PAC/PAI provides coverage for the driver and occupants for injury or death while occupying the rental vehicle up to $1,000. Exclusions apply.

A major credit card is required in order to rent a vehicle. Name on credit card must match the renter's Driver's License and/or Passport

At the time of returning the vehicle, the deposit will be refunded, in the event of any damage to the vehicle, a charge will be made to the deposit.

Vehicles rented with a full tank of fuel must be returned full to avoid a locally determined refueling charge.

The renter must present a valid Driver’s License at the time of rental. International renters must also present a valid passport from their country of residence. If the license is of non- Latin alphabet an international driving license will be required.

If you book a reservation directly through Nextcarrental.com or our company call center, please use the same source to cancel your reservation. NextCar does not charge a cancellation fee but does request a formal cancellation notice. If you booked your vehicle through a third party source such as: Expedia, Kayak, Priceline etc, please use that same source to cancel the reservation and avoid a possible cancellation fee.
