Drivers age and driving license requirements apply to additional drivers. The number of additional drivers is limited to the number of passenger seats in the vehicle rented. If renting a vehicle in the Luxury/Exotic category transferred coverage is not accepted. Inquire at the counter for the rates for insurance.

Unlimited kilometers are provided only for travel within British Columbia (BC). Rentals that exceed 3,000 kilometers during the rental period may be reviewed under our fair use policy and could result in additional charges. If customers wish to travel to Alberta, Washington, or Oregon, a $20.00 per day surcharge will apply, and unlimited kilometers will still be honored after payment of this fee. Travel to or within any other province or U.S. state is strictly prohibited unless authorized in writing. Customers who drive outside the approved areas without prior authorization will be charged $0.59 per kilometer for every kilometer driven during the entire rental period, not just those driven outside BC. Failure to inform and clarify travel plans outside the authorized regions will result in penalties, and may also void insurance coverage or lead to contract termination. Customers are required to disclose all intended travel outside British Columbia before the rental begins to avoid additional charges or penalties. Please note, the fair use policy will apply even when travelling within authorized areas.

The currency you will be charged is dependent on the website you book and in person transcations will be charged in CAD. We accept major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, and Discover. Prepaid cards are not accepted. Rentals paid by debit card or cash require prior approval—please contact our office in advance. At pickup, the primary driver must present a valid credit card in their own name with sufficient available funds for the rental charges and deposit. Security Deposit A minimum deposit of $500.00 will be pre-authorized on your credit card at the start of the rental. • Drivers under 25: minimum deposit of $1,500.00 • Luxury vehicles: deposits range from $2,500.00 to $15,000.00 The deposit is held for the duration of the rental as security against damage or theft. Once the vehicle is returned, the deposit will be released automatically. Your bank or credit card provider typically processes the release within 3–7 business days. The deposit amount does not represent your total excess liability. Failure to present a valid credit card or sufficient funds may result in refusal to release the vehicle. Payments made with a credit card not in the primary driver’s name may require additional verification or may be declined. In such cases, previously paid amounts are non-refundable. A valid credit card is required to secure a reservation. A temporary authorization of USD $1.00 may appear on your statement. For prepaid reservations, your credit card may be charged in full or in part at the time of booking. The same credit card used for payment must be presented at pickup. Prepaid reservations are non-refundable. If the vehicle is not collected at the scheduled time, the reservation will be canceled without refund or credit. A no-show fee of 35% of the total reservation value will be charged. To avoid this fee, cancellations must be completed through the same website where the reservation was made at least 48 hours before the scheduled rental time. Local offices cannot cancel reservations. Next Car Rental may issue a refund after verification in the following situations: • Flight cancellation preventing travel • Natural disaster preventing travel • Illness preventing travel • Death in the family • Jury duty • Inability to fulfill the reservation (e.g., no vehicle available) • COVID-19 related travel disruption A handling fee applies to approved cancellations. If you choose to change your reservation dates, the handling fee will be waived, though rate adjustments may apply. To change dates, call 1-877-877-1400. The vehicles tagged "or similar" are displayed with images of similar cars in the same category. Vehicle make, model, and color are not guaranteed at pick-up. However, you are entitled to a vehicle with the same passenger and luggage capacity in the same category. Vehicles are held for one hour after the reserved arrival time. When flight details are provided, we will hold the vehicle for up to one hour after flight arrival. In the event of delays, you may call or e-mail us to advise of any changes in your pick-up time. After the one-hour window, you will be considered a no-show, and we may or may not be able to honor your reservation, depending upon availability.
